About Our Founder – Christine Barkley, Founder & CEO
Christine Barkley is an internship strategist, researcher, and educator who has spent her career helping organizations design and deliver impactful, equitable internship experiences. Before founding Internology, she served as the Director of Curriculum, Research & Programming at Intern Bridge — where she oversaw the organization’s nationally recognized SHRM & HRCI accredited Internship Program Success Academy (formerly known as the Total Internship Management workshop).
Christine has guided hundreds of employers through designing, facilitating, and improving internship and experiential education programs. She has also partnered closely with higher education institutions nationwide — delivering training, consulting with career centers, and helping align internship initiatives with evolving student needs and institutional strategies.
In addition to facilitating workshops and webinars, Christine has led national research on employer practices through Intern Bridge’s Employer Internship Program Study and developed resources aimed at expanding internship access and impact.
Christine approaches her work through a design thinking lens — a method she adopted after training with Stanford University’s Life Design Lab. This framework fuels Internology’s commitment to intentional program design, helping organizations move from reactive to strategic in how they structure, evaluate, and evolve their internship programs.
She holds a SHRM‑CP certification, along with credentials in Effective Management and Supervisory Essentials. Christine earned her master’s degree in Higher Education from Penn State University and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Childhood Education and Mathematics from SUNY Cortland.
